Event Industry Nigeria (EIN) in collaboration with Event Market Nigeria (EMN) last weekend visited the Pacelli School for the Blind and Partial Sighted in Surulere, Lagos and lifted the spirit of the students through various entertainment programmes.
Event Industry Nigeria, an association which sets standards for all event practitioners in the country, explained that the visit is to empower the students and improve their level of self-confidence which will make them grow as “self-actualised citizens.”
Some of the entertainment stars who lighted up the event include Abednego Norris (First Blind African Rapper and Multitalented Artist), who anchored the programme. Kelly Blind of Wazobia FM also gave rib-cracking jokes and nuggets to inspire the students.
Ejiro Sharon Okotie who is an ex-Pacellian explained how she strives to achieve all her goals and hopes to become the “first blind Ambassador to the United Nations.”
Other stars include the “Son of Man”, an upcoming comedian and an ex student of the school, currently studying at Kings College Lagos, who showcased his talents in comedy, dance and talking drum and lot of interactive segments took place on the Red Carpet.
Funmi Ilori, an educational psychologist, a social entrepreneur and founder of iRead Network Africa explained that reading nurtures human confidence which in turn builds human capacity. She enjoined the students to increase their thirst for knowledge.
In his remark at the event, Temmie Amodu, popularly known as Mr. T Soule, the convener of Event Market Nigeria, an online eco system, encouraged the students to keep alive their dreams and cling to their passion in order to live a fulfilled live.
Amodu maintained that the Event Industry Nigeria can further enhance youth engagement through a orderly approach into the industry with training, skill acquisition programs, and the development of local content in the production of event related materials e.g. glasswares which is currently shipped in with hard earned foreign exchange.
The highpoint of the event involved parents, children, staff and members of Event Market Nigeria interacting and embracing the theme of the event: ‘‘EMN-Differently Abled /Meet and Greet”.
