Mrs. Aisha Iyabo Ogeiriakhi at the weekend awarded with the Outstanding Contribution to the Information Management Industry, for her selfless service to the information management industry in Africa.

The special award by Records and Information Management Awareness (RIMA) Foundation, was given to her in memorial of late Abiola Juliana Oyedokun (AJO)

She received the award at the Institute of Information Management’s (IIM-Africa) annual lecture and induction ceremony held at the University of Lagos recently, where she was also awarded Best IIM Coordinator of the year, to have successfully organized and hosted the first IMM Africa International Program and induction in the United Kingdom in 2017.

Best International IIM Fellow of the year award was given to Ngwanaphalama Margaret More, a South African, for consistency in membership obligation since 2015. Other awardees include Princess Tiwalade Owho received the Most Outstanding member of the year and Olukayode Adeniyi for the Best IIM Social Media Group Administrator of the year award.

Speaking at the event, The President and Chairman Governing Council, IIM, Amb. (Dr.) Oyedokun Oyewole The Institute of Information Management called for the collective support from its members in order to achieve its desired goals.

He enjoined his members not to derail from the pace, but to work for together for the growth of the institute. “Coming together is the beginning, staying together is the progress and working together is a success.

While biding the inducted members, he said, “It is very certain you are going to face challenges in this journey, but these challenges are positive as it will help us to achieve our desired result. He, therefore, beseeched them to exhibit high integrity and strive to do your best, to corporate with him for the betterment of the institute. “I know you are all blessed with different intellectual and ideological gifts. But the most important thing for us is to see our self as a team, how to achieve our goal should be our priority, he added.

While delivering a lecture at the event, the Vice Chairman, Computer Warehouse Group Plc, Mr. Austin Okere, said the technology, Blockchain goes beyond financial application. It is expected to disrupt global supply chain by boosting transaction speed across borders and transparency. Practically, the key to this revolution lies in cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin.

Okere who lectured on “Blockchain and the Future of Information Management” added that blockchain is a shared virtual public ledger where encrypted transactions are confirmed by outside parties.  It is this technology that the Fintechs are leveraging to disrupt the traditional banks confirmed the transaction is placed in a block and added to the chain.

The institute also inducted new members into various IIM Membership categories ranging from Graduate, associate Professional, Senior Professional, fellow Hon. Fellow and Corporate. Among the new governing council member inducted are, Amb. (Dr.) Oyedokun Oyewole, Mrs. Soyebi Oluwakemi Abiodun, Alhaji (Dr.) Fatai Oyewole Salahudeen and the Director, Digital Asset, Leadership Newspaper, Mr. Tayo Adelaja, amongst others.
