Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwoolu has said he will make footages of the Lekki Toll Gate CCTV cameras available. He said this on Thursday morning during an interview on AriseTV.

This was coming after the Nigerian army shot at protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate on Tuesday night. Pictures of certain workers on the LCC, managers of the toll gate, removing some cameras at the toll gate went viral on social media on Wednesday morning making Nigerians ask if the entire operation was premeditated.

“I called the manager of the LCC, what he said to me was that because of the curfew that had been announced they took a decision to take out the installations. That camera that you saw is not a security camera. That camera that you saw is not a motion camera. It is a laser camera for vehicles. When you get to the toll plaza, you will remember that there is a camera that is at the level of your car. What that camera does is that it picks the tags on your car and it picks your number plate. That is when you get the boom before you approach when you on the fast track lane. That is what that camera does. The security cameras at the toll plaza are still available. These are some of the footages we will use for our own investigation. The security cameras are installed on top of the towers and they are there. I have seen them. Nobody can touch security cameras,” he said.
