It’s quite unfortunate that not everybody is living a basic lifestyle in especially Africa. A basic lifestyle includes, at least having food to eat, good shelter, clothing, having a small car that isn’t expensive etc.
Sadly, this basic lifestyle is demanding for a large percentage of Africans, and that isn’t a good story to tell. That is why some people in this clime see buying a small car as a luxury.
Personally, buying a four-wheeled car that is below or $1000 equivalent is not a luxury. The same thing applies to living in an air-conditioned room. These things are just basic lifestyle which naturally everybody should live.
Undoubtedly, the law of money says “do not spend on a frivolity”, which is quite apparent, but getting a car with a minimal budget may not necessarily be a frivolity if there is a need for it. It has to be distinguished. The case is different when the car is far too expensive to maintain.
I am not saying you to spend more than what you earn. It is not advisable.
The thrust of the matter is that the economic realities of Africa are like a stymie that denies its habitats from a basic lifestyle. Anybody who lives in an air-conditioned apartment, or has a power generator to supply electricity is regarded as a fellow who has made it big. This is the kind of orientation that exists in developing countries.
Everybody must thrive to acquire these basic life needs, they are necessary and shouldn’t be regarded as a luxury. If you do not have these things at the moment, you need to start questioning yourself why you don’t have them.
Although, there are times when things get worse in life, and you start seeing necessities as luxuries, especially if you are always conscious of the money you spend. Money, you ordinarily would have spent on basics, you start seeing them as a pure waste of money.
A practical example is when you wake up in the morning, you realize that there is no food in your apartment; you try to circumvent this reality by choosing to starve till noon or probably in the evening, all in the name of cutting cost.
You don’t need to starve to start cutting cost; there are other areas of your life you need to start looking at to reduce cost. If you are not able to provide food for yourself because you need to save that money for your transport fare, or you need to keep that food until evening, then, there is a problem. And this must be fixed with immediate effect.
• You can choose to handle your financial needs if you are determined to do so.
• You have to start thinking of ways to make money
• You have to start upgrading yourself regarding acquiring skills
• You need to start investing in yourself; this would pay off in the long run
• You need to start looking for a pay rise and add more value
• Start building a good relationship that would be of relevance in the future.
• Seek for more knowledge in your area of specialty.
Conclusion
It is essential to distinguish between living a basic lifestyle and a luxury lifestyle. Some of the things we call luxury are not luxury lifestyle, hence changing your mindset about finance is important
